Trout Fishing on the McKenzie in February

So far two bald eagles, but no trout. Beautiful place.

Morning on the McKenzie.

Looking forĀ steelhead, or anything that would bite. No one else out, and a misty morning. Quiet and peaceful. Enough time for perspective, without getting in trouble for neglecting duties. Being on a river with a friend tends to melt away the world, and restore peace.

Beautiful Afternoon on Crescent Creek, Central Oregon

Prettiest river I didn’t catch a fish in. Beautiful afternoon, but low water and a lot of sun made for tough fishing.

1 Part Looking for Fish. 1 Part not Caring.

It’s tough to care what happens when your view is this beautiful. The solid thud of a brown makes the day shine, but fishing for me is an excuse to hear things, see things and be surrounded by water. Sometimes, I just don’t care if I catch a trout. Sometimes, I just want to sit, cool my legs and be.

I didn’t catch a damn thing today.

Afternoons on the McKenzie

Somehow the sound of rushing water cleanses me. The feel of the weight of it on my legs purges my angers and fears. It’s a beautiful thing to have a fish and a river to show me insignificance.
